Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-01-29
Thank you for using iPlayer. This Privacy Policy explains how we protect your data while providing local music playback and management features.
Information We Collect
- Device and system info: model, OS version, language, region — used for compatibility metrics. Not used to identify you.
- Usage analytics: feature usage frequency, crash logs, error codes — used to improve stability and user experience.
- Not collected: biometrics, contacts, messages, call logs, precise location, advertising identifiers for cross-site tracking.
Permissions and Local File Access
- Local file access: to scan and play audio files stored on your device (e.g., FLAC, WAV, MP3, AAC, ALAC, APE, DSD). Files are processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers.
- Storage permission: to build your music library index, cache artwork, and store play history. Cached data is stored only on your device.
- Library updates: when you move, delete, or add local files, the app re-indexes to keep playlists and search results accurate.
Cloud Storage and Third Parties (Optional)
If you choose to use cloud sync/import features, third-party services may be involved (examples: iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive). Our principles:
- Authorization: via official SDKs or standard OAuth flows, limited to the scope you explicitly grant.
- Scope: only the files or directories you select for music playback; unrelated files are not accessed.
- Transfer: downloads use HTTPS when needed; encryption is provided by the third-party service and the OS.
- Local storage: synced files and caches remain on your device; we do not store your music files on our servers.
Analytics and Crash Logs
- Purpose: diagnosing issues and improving experience (UI interactions, performance bottlenecks, compatibility).
- Contents: error stack, device model, OS version, app version, timestamps. We avoid personally identifiable content; paths that may include personal info are anonymized (hashed or truncated).
- Choice: disabling diagnostics/analytics in system or app settings (where available) stops related collection.
How We Use Data
- Core features: local scanning, playback, lyrics, play history and favorites.
- Performance and stability: fix crashes, reduce stutters, improve battery and CPU efficiency.
- Support: when you voluntarily submit feedback, we use data to troubleshoot.
Sharing and Third Parties
- We do not sell your personal data.
- Sharing only occurs when legally required or for security and compliance reviews.
- Third-party SDKs are minimized and used only when necessary (e.g., cloud auth/download). We evaluate their privacy and security policies carefully.
Storage and Retention
- On-device: play history, cached artwork, indexes, and settings are stored locally; you can clear or reset them.
- Remote: we do not store your music files or personal content on our servers.
- Retention: diagnostics and crash logs are retained only as necessary and minimized per legal and business needs.
Children’s Privacy
iPlayer is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a minor provided data to us, please contact us via “Contact Us” to address it.
International Transfers
If you are in the EU or regions with data protection laws, we strive to apply equivalent safeguards. iPlayer primarily processes data locally and does not remotely store user music files, so cross-border transfers generally do not occur; for cloud services, please see their respective privacy policies.
Your Rights
- Access and correction: manage local data (history, cache) in the app.
- Deletion and withdrawal: clear cache, remove local files, and disable analytics/diagnostics in system/app settings where available.
- Consent management: permissions are requested when a feature needs them; you can revoke them in system settings at any time.
Security Measures
- Transport security: HTTPS for interactions with third-party services.
- On-device security: minimize persistent sensitive data; use OS sandbox and permission models.
- Access control: only access files/directories within the granted scope.
Changes to This Policy
We will notify you in-app or on our website for material changes and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
