Ever since iPlayer launched, one of the most requested features has been CarPlay support. To be honest, I couldn't give a definite answer back then because the app's core functionalities were still in their early stages.
Last year, I took the first step by applying for CarPlay development entitlements. Recently, I discovered that the approval notice had already arrived! Now that iPlayer has matured significantly, I finally have the time and resources to officially start working on CarPlay integration.
Core Features Synchronization
The current development focus is on bringing the essential iPlayer experience to your car's dashboard:
- Song Library: Access your entire local music collection on the go.
- Albums: Browse and play your favorite albums with ease.
- Playlists: Seamlessly sync all your custom playlists from the app.
Data across all these categories is perfectly synchronized with the app. Whether you control the music from your phone or the CarPlay interface, the playback state remains consistent in real-time.
Enhanced Driving Experience
Beyond basic playback, the CarPlay integration includes:
- Favorites: Mark songs as "Loved" directly from the car interface.
- Quick Controls: Optimized controls for safe and easy track switching while driving.
What's Next?
The CarPlay version is currently in internal testing. While the core features are ready, I plan to add more functionality based on user feedback to ensure the best possible driving music experience:
- Lyrics Display: Exploring safe ways to display lyrics.
- Audio Quality Settings: Adjust sound quality directly from CarPlay.
- Shortcuts: More convenient control options.
I am working steadily on the adaptation and will release the update as soon as testing is complete.
